About AYCP
Building youth-led change across Kenya
Africa Youths for Change and Productivity (AYCP) works with young people and communities across Kenya to expand opportunities for learning and livelihoods, support environmental action, and strengthen youth participation in community and public decision-making.
Mission
To enhance the living standards of young people and the broader community, socially, morally, and economically.
Vision
Young people who are innovative, self-reliant, and fully equipped to shape the communities they live in.
Who we are
A Public Benefit Organization for You
We develop practical programmes with the young people and communities involved. Our work includes learning support and mentorship, enterprise and agricultural skills, climate-resilient practice, and civic education and participation.
Our history
2021
Established as a Public Benefit Organization
AYCP was registered as a Public Benefit Organization in Kenya in March 2021. Since then, we have continued to build programmes and participation with young people and communities across Kenya.
Leadership
The Board and Executive Director
Our 5-member Board of Directors governs the organisation, with the Executive Director sitting ex officio.
Feizah Musa
Chairs the Board and leads strategic oversight, partnerships, and institutional accountability. Ten years of legal, research, and community-engagement experience shape our approach to compliance and institutional relationships.
Meshack Odhare
Leads the Secretariat as Executive Director, accountable for programme delivery, donor relations, and organizational management. Fifteen years working with young people across western Kenya, grounded in a political science background, inform this work.
Hezron Opiyo
Oversees financial stewardship, including reporting, budget oversight, internal audit, and banking. Ten years in accounting and financial management support this role. Chairs the finance subcommittee and is a signatory on our bank accounts.
Nancy Amata
Provides programme oversight and strategic guidance for the Young Scholars Programme. Twelve years designing and delivering educational programmes for young people ground her contributions to youth-centered pedagogy and learning design.
Charles Opondo
Oversees Young Voices for Change and advises on community outreach, stakeholder engagement, and civic participation programming. Seven years in community engagement and mobilization inform this work.
Millicent Omoro
Informs programme design for the Youth Productivity Network and Young Climate Stewards, drawing on nine years as an agriculture field officer, including work with USAID and ICS agricultural initiatives. Her field-level expertise spans smallholder agriculture and agricultural value chains.
Governance
How AYCP is governed
Board oversight
The Board holds authority over strategy, financial oversight, policy, and constitutional matters.
Secretariat implementation
The Secretariat carries out daily operations and programme implementation.
Accountability
Governance and management stay separate: the Board provides oversight, and the Secretariat manages operations.
Financial controls
The Treasurer chairs the finance subcommittee, oversees budgeting and internal audit, and is a signatory on AYCP's bank accounts.
Regulatory registration
Registered with the Public Benefit Organizations Regulatory Authority (PBORA).
Memberships and affiliations
Member of the Africa Network for Community Empowerment
AYCP is a member of the Africa Network for Community Empowerment (ANCEM), a network of independent public benefit organisations across Africa. The network channels resources to grassroots organisations and works with members to address climate justice, human rights, gender equality, and economic empowerment while keeping decisions and implementation local.
