Intervention overview

The case for this work

01

Context

Young people approaching the end of school often receive fragmented information about training institutions, applications, scholarships, digital requirements, and work opportunities. Those without professional networks are least able to compare options and complete the transition successfully.

02

Our response

Participants receive career guidance, digital and financial literacy, application support, workplace exposure, and individual transition planning. AYCP convenes education providers, employers, mentors, and families around practical opportunities available to each cohort.

Beneficiaries

Who the intervention serves

Learners and recent school leavers preparing for further education, training, or work

Objectives

  1. 01

Help participants identify realistic education, training, and work options.

  2. 02

Build the practical skills required to apply for and enter those opportunities.

  3. 03

Strengthen local referral relationships among schools, training providers, and employers.

Inclusion and safeguarding

Participation by design

  • Outreach prioritises young women, young people with disabilities, and participants without established professional networks.
  • Materials are available in accessible digital and print formats, with individual support for complex applications.

Risk management

Risks addressed in delivery

Guidance creates expectations for scholarships or jobs AYCP cannot guarantee
Present verified options clearly and separate application support from selection decisions.
Participants cannot meet indirect transition costs
Identify costs early, provide budgeting support, and maintain a referral list for available assistance.

Sustainability

What continues beyond delivery

  • Maintain a reusable county opportunity directory and transition toolkit.
  • Prepare alumni volunteers to support future application clinics and exposure sessions.
